A dual interface/combi card is a microprocessor card with support of contact based and contactless interface.
This type of card is typically used where contact based reader infrastructure is installed and the contactless interface is used for improved customer experience such as contactless payment or identification purposes and in the following applications:
- Government (eID-national ID, eRP-ResidencePermit, eDL-drivers license)
- Banking (Visa, Mastercard, JCB, Unionpay, VCCS)
